Can we do it?

The other day I told the kids about how we are
          going to plant a garden.
I told them that they are going to help... they are excited!
And have ideas of what they would like to see us grow.
I do not have a green thumb..
So I pray this will be a good
learning experience.. one that we will want to do again next year, that is...
Right after I told them about my little garden vision-
I opened up a little geography book I have to read to the young
ones.. it's called Home geography for primary grades.I just got it..
-sweet and short little book-
I saw a paragraph on growing plants in the first couple of pages..
here's part of what I read and out loud to them: Information concerning plants may be gained by outdoor study;also by planting seeds in boxes and having (kids) carefully watch their germination and growth.

Yep, That's my goal.. boxes and pots! And for the kids to watch plants grow..and for the plants to do well. And taste good! Still - need some supplies- and encouragement- I saw something in one of the boxes that I DON"T want.. (cat droppings!) I was so discouraged and frustrated today when I went out to start to get things ready.. So, any ideas how to keep them away?? (other then a dog or a gun that is-small kids here- can't have those things, and not really a animal in my house lover)
