Brace yourself..
Honestly..
I hope to encourage you with what I just read in preparing for a biblestudy tonight..
Topic.. children.. that they are not a burden, but a blessing..
This paragraph, was on raising them for His glory.. And I couldn't agree more with the author..
as I have seen this tested in raising mine thus far.. I am far from a perfect parent.. But, I was encouraged, and I hope for you the same..
"Children will cultivate an appetite for what ever they are fed in the earliest, formative years. I have known young people from "committed" Christian homes who know more about movie stars and rock groups than they do about patriarchs or the disciples. They can sing along with all the top hits songs but they do not know the great hymns of the faith. I can only assume that they have an appetite for what they have been exposed to."
[Nancy Leigh Demoss]
Hmmm, sounds alot like (Charlotte Mason) the encouragement and style I am starting to love.
I pray to be an encouragement and to live this out loud..
which reminds me to teach my children more about the hymns (almost forgotten in this 'pop culture' age-I don't even know much about them-sad) , and composers, artists and great authors, and nature ( the list goes on!).. I know I have wet their appetites for this some, however, I am convicted, and am sure we need a whole lot more! If only I was taught this way as a child...
Now, out for a walk to see what's happening..
this picture (straight from the camera, no picasa, cause I'm in a hurry to get out!) is moss, bright green already in our back yard..

How true!
I love the fact that we are touching on and learning hymns in our co-op. It has blessed us all. Only my older children can sing along from memory of by gone days. I hope to have my youngers join in that.
