elderberry

An awesome berry I am learning about
This year I started making a "winter tea", that's what we call it.
Recipe:
1/3 c. elderberries
2 cinnamon sticks
1 lemon,sliced into small pieces
1.c lemon juice
2 quarts of water
1c. honey
Simmer on low for 30 minutes before serving.
quantities can all be changed to your taste
Plus, I sometimes add orange slices
and allspice or cloves too.
We have this atleast once a week
My kids love it!
This week a few of my kids had a cough, fever, sore throat...
I got some of this down them and I am glad to say that I can see first hand that there is something powerful
about it. This is a God-given blessing. I am always discovering the awesome foods He has for us!
Here is where I buy my elderberries

Out of tea, so I'm literately off to make some more and to order some more berries! I may try making syrup
too for the younger kids in my house. The baby doesn't like the tang in the tea. No surprise, but he may like the syrup.
